Bill Power from Mitchelstown has scooped the top award for fine art photography in Ireland to become the Irish Photographer of the Year at the Irish Photographic Federation’s national finals in Kilkenny last Saturday. The judges were Riccardo Busci from Italy (President of the Federation of International Art Photography) and two highly distinguished UK international award winning photographers, Paul Keene and Rikki O’Neill, both of whom are Fellows of the Royal Photographic Society. Bill won gold in one of three qualifying sections for an image titled ‘A Secret Place’. This image then went on to be chosen by the international judges as deserving of the title of IPF Irish Photographer of the Year 2016.
