Unveiling of a commemorative sculpture and tree planting ceremony to remember all who died in the 1916 Rising. The sculpture will be unveiled in a new Remembrance Garden, beside Mitchelstown Leisure Centre and adjacent to the Tesco car park, on Saturday, April 23, the actual date of the centenary of the Rising. As part of the event, there will be a one-day exhibition of local artefacts, documents and photographs relating to that period in the lobby of Mitchelstown Leisure Centre. If anyone has any items which they could lend to the heritage society for the exhibition, please contact Andrew on 086 1987813. Local bands, traditional music, a short poetry reading and the reading of the Proclamation will also form part of the ceremony. All are welcome to attend the unveiling of the Remembrance Garden t 5pm on Saturday, April 23.
