It was confirmed this week that Mitchelstown Leisure Centre will be open by the end of October. The grant problems that had caused a delay in the opening of the centre have been sorted and they will now proceed with getting the building ready for the public.
Manager Kristine Meenaghan, said they are now looking forward to what the complex will be able to offer to the people of Mitchelstown.
“This is a fantastic facility that everyone in Mitchelstown will be able to enjoy. We’re all looking forward to offering a wide range of classes and programmes from opening day.
“Equipment has been on order for some time and we’ll have most of it installed as soon as we get the keys. Because of the delays, we’ve decided to hold back on opening the fitness suite for four to six weeks, so we can iron out any teething problems, but that too will be fully operational well before the end of the year,” she explained.
